Did You Know The Yellow M&M Voiced These Characters?

J.K. Simmons was just announced to play the role of Commissioner Gordon in the Justice League film set to be released in late 2017. In addition to his stellar career as an actor on screen, he most recently provided the voice for the character of Mayor Lionheart in Pixar’s Zootopia. However, Simmons isn’t exactly new to the world of voice acting. Having voiced several animated characters across a variety of different movies and televisions shows, Simmons is quite the veteran when it comes to lending his voice. Warning: Minor spoilers ahead!

1. J. Jonah Jameson

In addition to playing the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films, Simmons also voiced the character in the Ultimate Spider-Man and The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes TV series. He also voiced J.J.’s appearance on The Simpsons episode “Moe’N’a Lisa” where the character angrily demands photos of Spider-Man. When he is told that they are working on a poetry journal, J.J. demands poems of Spider-Man instead!

2. Kai

Kai is the main antagonist of Kung Fu Panda 3 and is also known as The Collector, The Jade Slayer, Master of Pain, Beast of Vengeance, and the Maker of Widows. Back in the day, Kai became tempted by the acquisition of more power and was defeated by Master Oogway. Upon returning from the Spirit Realm in the present, Kai seeks revenge on Master Oogway by undoing his legacy and destroying the Valley of Peace. He also has a reputation of stealing the Chi of powerful warriors and enslaving them as his jade soldiers. 

3. Tenzin

Tenzin is the youngest son of Avatar Aang and plays the role of Korra’s guardian and mentor in The Legend of Korra. Calm and serious, Tenzin is the only one of Aang’s children to be born an Airbender and brings it upon himself to preserve the traditions of the Air Nomads. Once Korra masters the elements of earth, water, and fire, she comes to Republic City to learn Airbending from Tenzin and complete her training to be come the Avatar.

4. Stanford Pines

Also known as The Author, Ford’s identity was unknown until the second season when he was revealed to be Stan Pines’ twin brother who mysteriously disappeared in Gravity Falls. He originally came to Gravity Falls to investigate the supernatural activity in the town and recorded his findings in his journals. After his disappearance, his journals are later found by his grandnephew Dipper who becomes fascinated by their author.

5. General Wade Eiling

General Wade Eiling is a key member of Project Cadmus, a secret division of the government designed to fight the superheroes in Justice League in case they ever go rogue. Although he is initially friendly towards the League, several conflicts make him believe that the unchecked grouped of superheroes pose a danger to the people of Earth. As a result, the General uses a classified Nazi serum that endows him him with super strength and invulnerability to fight the League himself. 

6. The Yellow M&M

Simmons also provides the voice of the Yellow M&M who is often more sensible than his red counterpart. He replaced John Goodman in the late 1990s and has voiced the Yellow M&M in commercials ever since. He also plays the Yellow M&M in the 2000 video game M&M’s: The Lost Formulas and the 3-D film I Lost My M in Vegas.
