One of the most talked about films of the awards season is David O. Russell’s The Fighter, the true story of Boston-bred boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward and his brother who helped train him before going pro in the mid 1980s. A rousing crowd pleaser in the the vein of Rocky, the movie has also garnered a gaggle of Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture (Drama), Best Director (O. Russell), Best Actor (Mark Wahlberg), Best Supporting Actor (Christian Bale) and Best Supporting Actor (Amy Adams).
