Jay Roach To Helm Obama-McCain Election-Inspired ‘Game Change’

Jay RoachSo apparently that election we had a few years ago was historic, because like all historic things it’s being made into a movie! According to SlashFilm, Austin Powers director Jay Roach will take the reigns of Game Change, an HBO film about the 2008 presidential race between Barack Obama and John McCain, based on the controversial book of the same title by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin.

While we now know the novel will be adapted by Danny Strong, there isn’t any news regarding what the picture will actually be about. In their research, Heilemann and Halperin performed over 300 interviews with people involved in the election, so there will be plenty of material to work with.

Game Change won’t be the first time Roach dramatizes an election in film form. Back in 2008, he directed the Emmy-winning Recount, another HBO film that depicted the controversial 2000 Presidential Election, featuring critically-acclaimed performances from Kevin Spacey, Denis Leary and Laura Dern.
