Katy Perry, Adele Eyed Up for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Star Biopic

AdeleWhether or not the proposed Whitney Houston biopic is actually happening has been a point of contention, but America definitely wouldn’t be surprised to see one underway. A less expected project is the biopic of Paul Potts, English opera singer whose vocal abilities achieved notoriety after his Britain’s Got Talent victory in 2007. Harvey Weinstein has founded a personal interest in the telling of Potts’ tale in the film, which will be titled One Chance, after the singer’s 2007 hit album. Although Potts himself is not exactly a household name here in the U.S., two of the celebrities being considered for parts in the movie certainly are: Katy Perry and Adele.

Weinstein has made mention of considering both Perry and Adele for the role of Julie-Ann Potts, Paul’s wife whom he met on the Internet in 2001. Weinstein discussed the part with Perry, who, as he told the New York Post, expressed a definitive interest: “I was talking to Katy about a new project, a possible dramatic role in the Paul Potts movie, which will be shooting in England soon. We’d really like someone like Katy or Adele to play the role of Potts’ wife, and Katy seemed genuinely interested.”

The Post also reports that Perry remarked, “I love a challenge,” on the subject. Adele has not yet been involved in any discussions about the film, nor has it been mentioned if Weinstein has any desired casting choices for Potts himself. The story will follow Potts’ life from childhood to fame, chronicling the difficulties he has experienced due to his weight and his challenging career.

Now for the real casting conquest: who will play Simon Cowell?
