Kevin Bacon Continues His Evil Streak with ‘R.I.P.D.’

Kevin BaconEvery time Kevin Bacon signs on to do a new movie, I’m drained of good deal of vigor over my favorite game becoming a little less challenging. Life-sapping connotations set aside, the new project in which Bacon is now involved is R.I.P.D. (an acronym for “Rest In Peace Department”): an action zombie film about a police department comprised of undead officers.

The zombie fad is quickly heading in the direction of its vampirious predecessor, but hopefully this will be a quality installment. If nothing else, what the film has going for it is decent casting. In addition to Bacon, the players include Ryan Reynolds, onto whose bandwagon a lot of people seem to be jumping (back), and the jet-powered Clydesdale of a leading man, Jeff Bridges. It had previously been reported that Zach Galifianakis would be joining the cast, but he’s not. Deal with that.

Bacon is in the final stages of his deal with the studio. The project will be directed by RED‘s Robert Schwentke and is being written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, the team who brought us Clash of the Titans.
