This might be a risky prediction, but Moonrise Kingdom looks like it could be Wes Anderson’s best movie to date. Some will say that The Royal Tenenbaums cannot and will not be topped — an admirable opinion. But there’s something especially charming, inventive and interesting about the upcoming Moonrise Kingdom that suggests that even Anderson’s 2001 masterpiece could be outdone.
The story follows a pair of pre-adolescent campers who run away on a romantic tryst, much to the chagrin of parents, scoutmasters, fellow campers, and a very didactic social services team. Check out the new interactive character posters below, and catch the movie in theaters on May 16.
