Legendary actor Robert De Niro is returning to his Mafia-character roots with acclaimed director Michael Mann.
The two-time Oscar-winning actor, best known for gangster movies including Goodfellas and Casino, and Mann last joined forces on the critically acclaimed 1995 crime thriller Heat.
Now the pair is working on Frankie Machine, based on the Don Winslow novel The Winter of Frankie Machine, in which De Niro will play a former mobster forced out of retirement.
