Steven Spielberg Puts ‘Robopocalypse’ On Hold

Steven_SpielbergSteven Spielberg has decided to push back Robopocalypse, his big sci-fi film about – duh – a robotic apocalypse, Deadline reports. He was previously scheduled to direct the movie this spring for Fox and Disney through Dreamworks but he wanted more time, and didn’t want to rush such a large-scale and expensive film.

Based on the novel of the same name by Daniel H. Wilson and with a script penned by Drew Goddard, Robopocalypse is about the battle for survival after humans generate the first mass intelligence computer brain and it turns on them. The film was set to star Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway.

No word yet on when Robopocalypse might see a new release date, or if the leads will stay with Hemsworth and Hathaway. But if Spielberg doesn’t want to rush it, then we say all the better. We’d rather wait longer for a great film than settle for a mediocre one released faster.

Writer Sydney Bucksbaum likes to think her hobby of watching insane amounts of TV isn't an obsession... it's not an obsession, okay, so just drop it! As the resident CW-lover on the Hollywood.com staff, she truly believes her Clark Kent/Dean Winchester/Damon Salvatore/Lucas Scott/Oliver Queen/Chuck Bass/Seymour Birkhoff/Wade Kinsella/Vincent Keller/Micah Barnes is out there somewhere, waiting for her, in real life (just go with it). After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism, Sydney has made it her mission to campaign for more shirtless scenes for her favorite CW hunks. You're welcome.
