Christian Bale and Sean Penn are close to securing roles in the upcoming Warner Bros. project, The Last Photograph. Director Niels Arden Opley (the Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) is at the helm for the feature which sprouted from an idea from Zack Snyder, but found execution in Kurl Johnstad (who wrote 300). Christian Bale looks to take on the role of a war journalist and Sean Penn would play an ex-soldier returning to Afghanistan. The duo would start with a photograph (I’m guessing the last one) and attempt to find a kidnapped family member and identify the captors. If all goes well, this could be a great pairing. Production is set to start in 2012, so they’ve still got some time for final decisions.
