After having the ability to pre-order with no clue when it would arrive, Warner Home Video has finally announced that the official release date for the Lord of the Rings trilogy's extended Blu-ray edition is June 28. Commence excitement. The 15-disc set (yes, that's right, 15 discs) will include the three movies in beautiful Blu-ray vision, 6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and a whole slew of extra features for a pretty reasonable list price tag of $119.98, but you can find it on Amazon for 83.99.
The special feature highlights include director, writer, cast, design team, production team and post-production team commentaries on each film; a lengthy, behind-the-scenes look at taking each book from just a vision to reality; and a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of each segment of the trilogy.
