‘Rock of Ages’ Adds Catherine Zeta-Jones

Catherine Zeta-JonesI’m willing to bet that director Adam Shankman happened to ask Catherine Zeta-Jones to be in Rock of Ages at the precisely the right moment. Because if she were in any frame of mind that has the ability to discern the good choices from the bad ones, she would not have agreed to appear in his adaptation of the Broadway hit. I’m not blaming this on the Oscar winner’s bipolar disorder (which is a serious condition and should be treated), but I am accusing Shankman of taking advantage of the mentally ill. He seems like the kind of person would do that.

Anyway, the lovely Zeta-Jones joins the production as a villain in a role not included the stage version. Her character will help tie everything together, much like the fabled hair band’s of the 80s tied all that giant hair together back. She joins the eclectic cast that includes Diego Gonzalez Boneta, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti and Julianne Hough.

Mrs. Zeta Jones, we wish you the best of luck in your treatment and may you come to your senses and drop this film like an ugly step child.
