Remembering Hollywood Legend James Caan

The Godfather star James Caan has passed away at 82. His family confirmed the news in a Tweet on Thursday, July 7.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6,” the family wrote, “The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy at this difficult time.”

He was a legend in Hollywood

Along with The GodfatherJames Caan starred in several movies, including MiseryEl Dorado, and the Will Ferrell holiday classic Elf. In 1973, he earned his 1st Oscar nomination for his role as fiery-tempered Sonny Corleone in The Godfather.

The late actor also received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978.
