Rocketman star Taron Egerton can’t ignore the rave reviews for his performance in the biopic because Elton John keeps sending them to him.
The actor, who portrays the singer in the film, rarely pays attention to what critics write about his films, but the Your Song hitmaker has been making sure he is seeing them.
Egerton told Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday (May 28, 2019), “He’s vetting my reviews. I’m sure there are bad ones that he’s not sending.”
Egerton chuckles every time Elton sends him another piece of glowing praise, with the subject matter: “And another one.”
The production has earned positive reviews since it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month (May19), after which it scored a four-minute standing ovation.
Elton has been heaping praise on Taron for weeks revealing he is particularly impressed with the actor’s singing – Egerton re-recorded the real Rocket Man’s hits for the movie’s soundtrack.
