Charlotte Movie Theaters: AMC Carolina Pavilion 22
Going to the movies can be one of the most relaxing things you can do after a long week at work. This is where the AMC Carolina Pavilion 22 comes into play. Located in South Charlotte, after getting finished with your movie you can head on over across the parking lot to get some shopping done at the local Target, or directly behind the theater at Carters childrens clothing store. If you think about it, this could be the best of both worlds for any family.

The AMC Carolina Pavilion 22 offers their patrons some of the best seating AMC has to offer. The theater utilizes their signature red in their large, leather full motorized recliner seats. You’ll want to be sure to book your tickets ahead of time. This theater has reserved seats, and those premium seats will go fast.

AMC Carolina Pavilion 22 is one of the few theaters in Charlotte that offers closed captions. They also offer open cations (subtitles on screen), as an option for those that need them to enjoy their favorite stars on screen. There are sensory friendly film selections, and of course, their signature MacGuffins bar.

AMC started out in the early 20th century when Maurice, Edward and Barney Dubinsky purchased the Regent Theatre in Kansas City, Mo. Now, after over 20 years the company has gone on to open approximately 1,000 theaters and 11,000 screens across the globe. It’s safe to say that a good number of those are probably attached to a mall. Being attached to a mall is not only good for the mall, but especially the theater. It allows guests to go somewhere to relax after a long day of shopping. But don’t get us wrong, just because they’re in a mall doesn’t mean you won’t get a state of the art movie going experience, complete with IMAX!

As with the previous AMC, AMC Northlake 14 offers many of the same features, including premium motorized leather reclining seats that offer the guests on a date or out on a family outing one of the best ways to enjoy a show. Just, please don’t fall asleep, we wouldn’t want you to miss the best parts of the movie.

One of the things AMC does best is their premium selection of concessions. You can enjoy anything from a hot dog to pizza; a hamburger and fries to the traditional nachos. However, one of the best things to get is still going to be the big ole bucket of popcorn. There is nothing like going to the cinema, buying popcorn, a soda, and then just sitting back and enjoying all that AMC and Hollywood have to offer.

Being in the heart of Charlotte, NC is one of the best things AMC Park Terrace 6 has to offer, but it isn’t the only thing. Throughout the summer, having seats that heat up may seem like a silly fad that will never be useful. That is until you get to the fall and winter months. Having heated seats now no longer seems silly, but a much welcome gift for your tush!

Theaters in general are always trying to find new ways to draw in the crowds, and one of the best ways is by allowing guests to wear costumes, with exceptions, to their favorite movie premieres. Another way to do this is by hosting cosplayers in full costume doing L.A.R.P. in the lobby, or in the auditorium of their favorite movies. This is something that AMC Park Terrace has done in the past to great result during the latest host of Star Wars films.

One of the biggest hurdles for moviegoers isn’t so much the lack of films coming to theaters lately, or the events of recent years. No. One big hurdle is the cost of tickets, and like most AMC theaters, AMC Park Terrace 6 offers their guests discounted matinees, as well as discounted tickets for Tuesdays. Along with this, you can also rent out an entire auditorium if you want to provide your employees, or family and friends, a truly unique experience at a reasonable price.

Regal is one of the leading theaters in the business, with their RPX technology being one that many consumers keep flocking back to. This technology offers the ultimate in movie theater sight and sound. As a former projection manager for Regal, back when the only sound options were Dolby, DTS and SDDS, we had to rely on turning up the volume when guests wanted a better sound experience. Now, with technology here, guests get the best experience without inconveniencing because they need it at their preferred volume level.
Regal Starlight – Charlotte offers guests with little ones the option of throwing their precious mini me’s birthday party in their party room before screening one of their favorite movies. Regal Starlight – Charlotte is located near great shopping and dining, as well as sitting right around the corner from the PNC Amphitheater. The theater, in addition to offering the aforementioned RPX, also offers guests the unique opportunity to watch film in 270 degrees with their ScreenX technology. This plays the film not only in front of the guests, but also utilizes the side walls, giving the guests a truly immersive experience.

Cinemark Movie Bistro Charlotte sits nestled in an area surrounded by many dining options that offer couples and families several options to choose from if they don’t wish to partake in the food offering at the theater. However, this writer can’t imagine going to this Cinemark and not jumping at the chance to hit up their kitchen where you can get options like wings, big juicy burgers, or a fantastic flatbread, all while washing it down with a tasty beer or wine.

They offer three levels of party package starting at $6 per guest, which includes a kids popcorn, drink and fruit chews, upto $8 offering guests a medium popcorn, soda or bottled water. These packages are oftentimes a better deal as they allow everyone to get their own snacks at a fraction of the cost.

Charlotte Movie Theaters: Regal Phillips Place
One of the oldest Regal theaters in Charlotte, Regal Phillips Place may not have many of the bells and whistles that the others do, such as RPX, IMAX, or 4DX, but what it does have is atmosphere. When you first approach the theater you are immediately smacked in the face with its sheer beauty. The building resembles one of those right out of a 1950s movie. You have a truly gorgeous marquee right above the box office, which you approach by climbing a small set of steps, truly elegant. It also sits at the end of what looks to be an old town square surrounded by shops and restaurants.

This theater features 2D screens, closed captions, descriptive audio and traditional stadium seating. While the seats aren’t the latest and greatest in motorized recliners, they offer plenty of legroom. It makes it easy for people to get on and out of the isles without too much difficulty. This theater offers the guests an outstanding audio experience to enjoy all of their favorite films the way they were meant to be heard.

Charlotte Movie Theaters: Accenture IMAX® Dome Theatre at Discovery Place Science
At the Accenture IMAX Dome Theatre you can experience films in a whole new life through the use of the incredible next-generation laser projection system. There’s also a 12-channel sound system exclusive to IMAX theatres, and as they say on their site, it is immersive by design. They have several films playing for the young ones, and adults, to enjoy once you’ve had your fill of science and experiments. You can currently choose between Great Bear Rainforest, Into America’s Wild, and Volcanoes: The Fires of Creation. Of course, the selection may change based on when you visit, so be sure to check ahead of time. These features alone make the Accenture IMAX Dome Theater at Discovery Science a must do in the heart of Charlotte, NC.

Like many theaters that are attached to a science center, the Accenture IMAX Dome Theater plays movies that are more catered to the science realm. However, occasionally you will catch a big summer blockbuster showing up at the Dome, such as this year’s Jurassic World: Dominion, and Thor: Love and Thunder. You may also find the occasional classic coming back in a surprise anniversary screening such as Jaws, and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.
