BOX OFFICE: War of the Retreads

Now you see it, now you see it again.

That’s apparently the story with “Hollow Man” and “Space Cowboys,” the two films that are running neck and neck for the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend. The winner will be known when final ticket sales figures are released Monday.

Whichever film prevails, this is the first time in two months that the top grossing film wasn’t a new release. The last time that happened was when “M:I-2” opened in May and was No. 1 for two consecutive weeks.

This weekend’s new movies, “Autumn in New York,” “The Replacements” and “Bless the Child,” came in at No. 3, 4 and 7, respectively.

Here’s the scoop on the weekend Top 10:

1. “Hollow Man” ($13.1 million, $50.4 mil overall) 1. (Tie) “Space Cowboys” ($13.1 mil, $39.1 mil overall) 3. “Autumn in New York” ($11.5 mil, opening weekend) 4. “The Replacements” ($11.1 mil, opening weekend) 5. “Nutty Professor II: The Klumps” ($10.3 mil, $94.1 mil overall) 6. “What Lies Beneath” ($9.8 mil, $112.1 mil overall) 7. “Bless the Child” ($9.6 mil, opening weekend) 8. “Coyote Ugly” ($7.8 mil, $34.2 mil overall) 9. “X-Men” ($4.2 mil, $144 mil overall) 10. “The Perfect Storm” ($2.8 mil, $170.5 mil overall)
