The BFI London Film Festival is set to kick off its 2023 edition with one of the year’s most eagerly awaited films. Emerald Fennell‘s second feature film, Saltburn, will have its international premiere at the event, opening on October 4th at London’s Royal Festival Hall. This follows Fennell’s Oscar-winning directorial debut with Promising Young Woman.
A Beautifully Wicked Tale of Privilege and Desire
The film has a stacked cast featuring Barry Keoghan, Rosamund Pike, Alison Oliver, Jacob Elordi, Archie Madekwe, and Carey Mulligan, among others.
Saltburn promises to be a “beautifully wicked tale of privilege and desire.” The plot centers on student Oliver, played by Keoghan, who is having difficulty finding his footing at Oxford University. He becomes entranced by the charismatic and aristocratic Felix Catton, portrayed by Elordi, who invites him to spend an unforgettable summer at Saltburn, his family’s expansive and quirky estate. The story explores themes of identity, class, and intrigue, promising a gripping cinematic experience.
