Actor/model Antonio Sabato, Jr. is divorcing his wife of five years.

The former General Hospital star, who recently announced plans to run for Congress, filed documents to end his marriage to Cheryl Moana Marie on 27 December (16). He is seeking joint custody of six-year-old son Antonio, but Cheryl wants sole physical custody, claiming she is worried for her young son’s safety because of his father’s alleged drug addiction, according to TMZ.com. She alleges Antonio has issues with prescription drugs, such as benzodiazepines, which can include anti-anxiety and sleep disorder medication.

The actor admitted to TMZ that he went to rehab for his problem with sleeping pills and he’s since become an outspoken advocate about addiction. He added of his estranged wife’s allegations, “Whatever else she says is just a bunch of lies.”
