Kate Bosworth Will Play Sharon Tate in New Biopic
Actress Kate Bosworth has signed up to portray Sharon Tate in a new movie about the Manson Family murders.
The Superman Returns star’s filmmaker husband Michael Polish will adapt and direct the movie, based on Greg King‘s book Sharon Tate and the Manson Murders.
The Tate biopic will chronicle the actress’ career and marriage to director Roman Polanski, reports Deadline.com.
She was heavily pregnant with the couple’s first child when she was slaughtered by convict Charles Manson and his cult of followers in August, 1969.
The Valley of the Dolls star, 26, was among five people killed at the former home of record producer Terry Melcher.
The film will be produced by Nick Phillips, who previously worked on Bosworth’s Straw Dogs remake in 2011.
In a statement, Phillips said, “There has been so much said and written about all of the other players in this story, but no one has ever truly done justice to the life of its most tragic player.”
Polish added, “(I will) approach this film with a careful consideration, both from a visual sense and by crafting her story truthfully and with the dignity she deserves.”
The movie isn’t Bosworth and Polish’s first project together – the couple has also joined forces on three other films, including 90 Minutes in Heaven and Amnesiac.
