Halle Berry In Fierce Custody Battle With Ex

halle berry and gabriel aubryEarlier this week, Halle Berry wisely excused herself from the upcoming production of New Year’s Eve, and she was replaced by Katherine Heigl. Berry released a statement to People that said she did so to devote her time to resolving the custody battle she currently finds herself in with her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, over their 2 1/2 year-old daughter Nahla. In late December, Aubry filed court papers in hopes of being granted full paternal rights so he would be allowed to share custody of Nahla with Halle. This came after the couple attempted to organize the child’s schedule themselves, but apparently after Gabriel took action legally, Halle felt she had no choice but to do the same, while insinuating that he’s a neglectful parent. Her representative stated, “Halle has serious concerns for her daughter’s well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her.” In statements given to other outlets, Halle maintains Gabriel has been totally uncooperative throughout the whole process, and she blames him for having to pull out of New Year’s Eve.

But today, Aubry has released a retaliatory statement to Access Hollywood, saying “While Gabriel is disappointed in Halle’s decision to falsely malign him publicly and for her own purposes, he refuses to be pulled into her dispute over a canceled film production. Gabriel also refuses to air their issues in the press as he believes they may ultimately harm their daughter. The fact is that Gabriel is a caring father who shares custody of Nahla.” It continued: “Gabriel fully believes that a consistent and balanced living situation and two loving parents are crucial for their child even is Ms. Berry feels otherwise. He will always defend his rights as a father and will always consider Nahla’s best interest. Halle’s continuing allegations in the press are untrue and irresponsible.”

Right, so there’s something worse about this than the fact the New Year’s Eve movie is still getting made. I doubt it’s true, but TMZ says that when upset with Halle, Aubry would call her the “N word” and a “fucking bitch.” So that’s not good. These two are about to be the parents that can’t even agree on an orthodontist or a study abroad country.
