If you loved the chilling suspense of The Black Phone, get ready — the terrifying ride isn’t over yet. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse are back with a sequel Black Phone 2 that promises more horror, deeper lore, and the return of Ethan Hawke’s masked villain. Here’s what we know so far.

The Black Phone 2 Trailer
While an official trailer hasn’t dropped online yet, a sneak peek was shown at CinemaCon. Set during the winter, the sequel appears to flip the script: Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) may now be the one in danger, with Finney (Mason Thames) trying to save her. The dream-like visuals hint at Nightmare on Elm Street-style horrors, with more supernatural elements in play.
The Black Phone 2 Plot
Plot details are still under wraps, but writer-director Scott Derrickson says this will be a high school coming-of-age horror story—evolving naturally from the middle school setting of the first film. Ethan Hawke returns as The Grabber, possibly in ghostly form. Whether he’s haunting Gwen and Finney or preying on new victims, this sequel is shaping up to launch a full horror franchise.
