Kim Kardashian‘s mom, Kris Jenner, appeared on Good Morning America yesterday and when Laura Spencer asked her if Kim was going to give her $2 million engagement ring back to Kris Humphries, Jenner said she hates “Indian givers,” which is a term to describe someone who gives another person a gift but then decides he/she wants it back. In the case of Jenner’s comments, she was applying the term to Humphries based on the rumor that he wants the ring back and now Jenner is in some trouble with the largest Native American group in the country. Jacqueline Johnson Pata, who is the Executive Director of the National Congress of American Indians, told Radar Online, “Once again American Indians and Alaska Natives have been misrepresented by a single misinformed statement. Native American people serve in our country’s military at disproportionate rates, are respected business leaders, citizens of the United States, members of Congress, professional athletes, musicians, teachers, and active participants in civic life. The phrase ‘Indian giving’ is wrong and hurtful. The cultural values of Native Americans are based on giving unconditionally and empowering those around them. Instead this cultural value is forgotten when negative stereotyping of Native people occurs.” – Radar Online, Radar Online
Mariah Yeater, the 20 year-old woman who claims Justin Bieber is the father of her baby, could actually be charged with statutory rape because when the “sex” occurred, Bieber was 16 and she was 19. California law states if you have sex with a minor when you are less than three years older than the minor, the crime is a misdemeanor that carries a sentence of one year in prison. – Yahoo
Anne Hathaway used to be pretty worried that she’d get married for “business reasons,” but now that she’s been with Adam Shulman for three years she’s starting to believe she’s actually capable of getting married for love — even in these times! She told the German magazine, Gala, “Before, when I thought of marriage, I was afraid that I would only marry for business reasons or because I wanted to live out a little girl’s fantasy. That’s not the case anymore. I’m looking forward to being a mom in a big way. Having kids is definitely the best thing that you can do in life.” – Radar Online
