Beastie Boys’ Mike D fighting for the rights of wine lovers at California restaurant

Beastie Boys star Mike D is expanding his resume by curating the wine list for a new Los Angeles restaurant.
Mike D, real name Mike Diamond, will work with wine steward Taylor Parsons to choose the wines for Hearth & Hound.
“It’s going to be a fun list,” the No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn star tells Bloomberg.com. “We are putting together a wine program that will get customers tasting things they might not taste. If you like California Syrah, I might point you towards a wine from another part of the world that’s better value. We’re going to pour half-bottles, so you can try different things.”
And he insists the list will be accessible for all the restaurant’s patrons.
“If you want a glass of wine, you shouldn’t have to spend an hour figuring out what that wine is, what you’re going to drink,” he says. “The restaurant is in the middle of Hollywood. A lot of people will be using Hog & Hound for work; a lot of people will use it to be social.”
He also reveals the restaurant will stock more limited edition wines.
“There will be some sort of list that will have more interesting back vintages, rarefied wines that you might not find in a casual restaurant like this,” he says. “It’s a list that digs deeper…”
The restaurant is scheduled to open next month (Sep17).
