Drake writes emotional tribute to late fan

Drake has posted an emotional tribute to his fan Kay, who recently passed away.

The Hotline Bling hitmaker took to Instagram on Sunday night (04Nov18) to share a picture of him wiping his eyes with a tissue while sat at Kay’s bedside in hospital. And in the caption, he confessed that he wished he had responded to the youngster, who he met through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, when she texted him on his 32nd birthday on 24 October.

“Gonna miss you a whole lot,” he wrote. “We met through make a wish and we built a genuine bond you would text me and check on me while I was on tour and tell me positive things and share your dreams and goals. I am crying in this pic but it was tears of joy cause we just prayed for you with your father.

“I am sorry I missed your text on my birthday that’s eating my soul right now but you know how much I loved you and was looking forward to seeing you after tour. I don’t know why I am writing this on IG I just need to get it out cause it’s sitting heavy on my heart. Will remember you forever K! (crying face emoji).”

The One Dance rapper, who concludes his co-headlining tour with Migos on 18 November, visited another young fan in hospital in August. He shared a snap of himself meeting 11-year-old Sofia Sanchez in Chicago, Illinois on the same day that she found out she would be getting a life-saving heart transplant.

“Me and my love Sofia talking about (Justin) Bieber and Owls and Basketball,” he wrote in the caption, followed by three blue heart emojis.
