Patton Oswalt is celebrating completing his late wife Michelle Mcnamara’s true crime book unmasking an unidentified serial killer.
After Michelle, a crime writer, died in her sleep at the age of just 46 in April 2016, Patton vowed to finish her investigation into an a murderer she dubbed ‘The Golden State Killer’.
On Tuesday (27Feb18), the comedian shared a picture of the book, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, placed on her grave, on Twitter.
He captioned the image, “You did it, baby. The book is excellent, the writing brilliant. You tried to bring kindness to chaos, which was your way.”
Three months after his wife’s death, the Ratatouille star, 49, vowed to complete her work in a post on Facebook.
“Michelle McNamara got yanked off the planet and out of life 102 days ago,” he wrote. “She left behind an amazing unfinished book, about a horrific series of murders that everyone – including the retired homicide detectives she worked with – was sure she’d solve. The Golden State Killer. She gave him that name, in an article for Los Angeles Magazine. She was going to figure out the real name behind it.”
The Golden State Killer, also known as The Original Night Stalker, refers to an unidentified serial killer and rapist linked by DNA evidence to an estimated 50 rapes and 12 murders in California in the 1970s and 1980s.
Last year (17), Patton revealed in a statement that his wife’s shock death was due to an undiagnosed heart condition.
The star has found new love since her death, marrying the actress Meredith Salenger, 47, in November (17).
