Zachary Quinto celebrates three years of sobriety

Zachary Quinto has reflected on how far he has come to celebrate the third anniversary of him getting sober.
The Star Trek actor marked the achievement on Friday (24May19) by posting a photo on Instagram, showing him wearing a jumper featuring three fingers being held up.
“III years sober today. i guess i wore the right jumper for the occasion. when i think about how far i’ve come and how much i’ve grown and how much more i love myself,” he wrote in the caption. “I’m really blown away. very far from perfect – but perfectly flawed. and working every day to honor and realize my full potential.
“Three years ago i had lost a connection to gratitude almost entirely. today i am brimming with it. for this touchstone. for life’s abundance. for true friends. for support. for the sweet freedom of this journey. may it continue with compassion – curiosity – honesty and above all… LOVE.”
While the 41-year-old hasn’t talked about his battle with addiction and journey to sobriety with the press, he opened up about the achievement during a talk titled The Power of Addiction at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York in March, with neuroscientist Judith Grisel.
During the discussion, he reportedly revealed he struggled with an addiction to alcohol and marijuana when he found success, because he was partying more. He eventually realised he was “so miserable” and the substances wouldn’t help fill the “existential hole” in his life, so he signed up to a 12-step recovery program.
Zachary is currently promoting his new horror series NOS4A2, pronounced Nosferatu, in Europe.
