Ewan McGregor Joins Cast of ‘August: Osage County’

Ewan McGregor August Osage CountyDreamy actorperson Ewan McGregor is joining the entirely average (ha! jokes!) cast of the upcoming cinematic adaptation of the Tracy Letts play, August: Osage County. The Pulitzer and Tony-award winning play starts filming with McGregor and his castmates Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts on September 24th.

According to Deadline, McGregor is set to play Bill Fordham, estranged husband of Barbara (played by Roberts) and is in turn the son-in-law of a pill-popping Violet Weston (played by the goddess Streep). Fordham himself is a college professor that left his wife for a student (because of course), but in a twist, he wants to stick around for the sake of his family, even though they’re grating on his last nerve.

The role was originated on stage by Jeff Perry, who can currently be seen as Cyrus Beene, the White House Chief of Staff on Shonda Rhimes‘ political thriller series, Scandal.

Given McGregor’s fantastic recent turn in Beginners, we have no doubt that McGregor will do well with this one.
