In ‘The Boss’, Michelle Darnell (McCarthy) is a potty-mouthed CEO who doesn’t care about anyone else but herself, and doesn’t care who she has to step over to make it, but when she goes to jail for insider trading, she finds that not too many people will come to her rescue in her time of need.
As it turns out, McCarthy has had already known this character very well. Director/Husband Ben Falcone tells us that Mellisa had started doing this character 15 years ago during her time at The Groundlings Theatre & School in Los Angeles (where the two first met), Kristen Bell discusses dental prosthetics and a hilarious scene between her and Melissa, and Melissa McCarthy talks about how uncomfortable she was cursing in front of children (unlike her character) in this behind the scenes interview:
