Fans React to Billie Eilish ‘Lost Cause’ Music Video

If there’s one thing we love about Billie Eilish, it’s that she always gives her fans what they want. The singer provided more of the same Wednesday when she dropped the music video for her new single “Lost Cause.”

On Tuesday, Billie teased the new track on Instagram with a quick behind-the-scenes clip. In that video, she sings the words “You think you’re such an outlaw” with other women as they sit around a couch.

Now, the wait for “Lost Cause” is over: the single dropped on Wednesday at 9 a.m. PT/ 12 p.m. ET.

“Lost Cause” looks like the best sleepover EVER

In the music video, Billie Eilish and her friends have a gorgeous house for themselves, and they don’t let it go to waste. Billie gets into some mischief as she shoots water guns, plays the classic board game Twister, tries on a new funky wardrobe, and rides around in a wheelbarrow-looking contraption. She has the occasional dance break, too; it wouldn’t be a sleepover without dancing crazily on kitchen tables.

Produced by her brother Finneas, Billie Eilish sings the lyrics, “But you got no job/You ain’t nothin’ but a lost cause.” As she goofs off with her friends, she realizes she’s better off without her ex-lover, as she stays carefree about the situation.

The music video had us wondering: Where was our invite?

“Lost Cause” comes off Billie Eilish’s new album Happier Than Ever

“Lost Cause” is the fourth single from Billie Eilish’s new album Happier Than Ever. On April 27, she announced the project would be released on July 30, 2021. “This is my favorite thing I’ve ever created,” she wrote in an Instagram caption, “and I am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it.”

Billie also announced that she and Finneas will embark on a world tour to support the album, set to start in February 2022.

To promote the album, Billie has dropped three singles, including “My Future,” “Therefore I Am,” and “Your Power.” Each song hit the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100.

“Your Power” is the most recent single before “Lost Cause,” where Billie Eilish introduced her long blond locks as she sang among the mountainside, reflecting on abusive relationships. Towards the middle of the video, an anaconda slowly wraps around Billie’s neck and body.

Compared to the sadness of “Your Power,” “Lost Cause” is an upbeat, empowering anthem to dance along to.
