La La Land & Suicide Squad lead Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards winners

La La Land and Suicide Squad were among the big winners at the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards on Sunday night (19Feb17).
Barbara Lorenz, Jackie Masteran, and Frida Aradottir picked up the Best Contemporary Hair Styling award for their work on La La Land, while Suicide Squad’s Alessandro Bertolazzi claimed the Best Period/Character Make-Up prize.
The other film winners were Donald Mowat, Malanie J. Romero, and Elaine Offers (Best Contemporary Make-Up for Nocturnal Animals); Cydney Cornell, Pauletta Lewis-Irwin, and Matt Danon (Best Period/Character Hair Styling for Hail, Caesar!), and Joel Harlow and Richie Alonzo (Best Special Make-Up Effects for Star Trek Beyond).
Meanwhile, Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy was handed the Distinguished Artisan Award, and TV and mini-series awards went to the hair and make-up teams behind shows like Westworld (Best Contemporary Make-Up and Best Special Make-Up Effects); Game of Thrones (Best Period/Character Hair Styling); American Horror Story: Roanoke (Best Contemporary Hair Styling and Best Special Make-Up Effects), and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (Best Period/Character Make-Up and Best Period/Character Hair Styling).
There was also an award for hairstylist Enzo Angileri, who created Charlize Theron’s look for her Dior J’adore The Absolute Femininity commercial.
