Ashley Graham still nervous about revealing curvy body in a bikini

Ashley Graham still has body hang-ups when it comes to getting into swimwear.

The plus-size model may pose in revealing pieces as part of her job and even has her own range of bikinis and swimsuits, but that doesn’t stop her from feeling the same nerves as every other woman when baring her body.

“I mean, of course like any girl when you get to the beach or the pool and you go, ‘Oh, I have to take my cover-up off, c**p.’ And you feel like everybody’s watching, and then you just go, ‘Oh fine, I’ll just take it off,’” the H&M campaign star smiled to People. “And then all of a sudden you get comfortable and go, ‘Okay. Another pina colada.’”

The 29-year-old beauty also insisted she doesn’t restrict herself in the lead up to a beach break as she remains “consistent” throughout the whole year. Even at the time of her interview Ashley hadn’t worked out in several weeks, but she still felt “great” and relies on healthy food deliveries to keep her eating habits in tact.

Her current outlook is a far cry from how she used to feel in her own skin as the star has often discussed the impact school bullies had on her. Speaking about the topic more in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar Ashley recalled again some of the cruel taunts hurled at her.

“Girls would call me ‘cottage-cheese thighs’ and ‘thunder thighs’. They’d be like, ‘Wide load coming through. Beep, beep!’ I hated school,” she sighed.

“As a model, people are telling you you’re beautiful, and at school, people are telling you you’re ugly. They would say, ‘You’re not really a model, you’re a fat model.’ It was humiliating. I think I just put my head down and internalized it.”
