Tutorial Tuesday: Festive (and sexy) Holiday Eyeshadow!

Blow-dry bars are the new Starbucks — there’s one on every corner. So, that takes care of a bad hair day. But where do you go when your makeup needs a makeover? Or if you need to zhuzh your look before a big date? Sephora? A department store? Thanks, but I’ll keep my Benjamins.

So, we were beyond thrilled after we were invited to check out Rouge New York — a new makeup salon located at 130 Thompson Street in SoHo.

I mean, can you say ‘genius’?

Oddly enough, Rouge New York was dreamt up on the set of Law & Order: SVU. In between creating fake bullet wounds and gang tattoos, Rebecca Perkins, the lead makeup artist for the show, became good friends with lead actress Stephanie March (aka Alex Cabot). On nights when March had dinner plans after filming, she would turn to Perkins for a quick touch-up. One evening, during a primping session, the two women wondered why there weren’t any makeup-only salons in NYC. In that moment, Rouge was born. And our lives — and yours — will never be the same.

A makeup salon? Can you say ‘genius’?

The menu includes simple makeup touch ups ($25) to full-service house calls ($125 per hour), face waxing (starting at $15) and makeup products for purchase. Walk-ins are welcome but if Rouge New York proves to be half as popular as the blow dry bars — we’re pretty sure that isn’t going to last long. To schedule an appointment call 212.388.1717 or book online.

As a way of introduction, Perkins created a few holiday beauty looks for us — which we will be bringing to you in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The first up: a dark navy eye decorated in with festive gold glitter.
