Tyra Banks reflects on ‘really off’ America’s Next Top Model challenges

Tyra Banks has spoken out in response to a viral video of a number of insensitive moments that featured on her reality show America’S Next Top Model.

Clips from the show have been resurfacing online, as fans have looked back at some of the cringeworthy moments from the TV talent contest’s history.

Viewers have taken to social media to vent their frustrations at particular moments, including the host telling Cycle 6 winner Dani Evans that she’d never be a successful model because of the gap in her teeth.

Other contentious moments include Cycle 13’s “biracial themed” photo shoot, where contestants had their skin darkened, and Cycle 4 runner-up Kahlen Rondot being asked to do a photo shoot in a coffin in a graveyard – just one day after her friend died.

Taking to Twitter to address the criticism, Tyra, who is also an executive producer on the show, wrote: “Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you.

“Looking back, those were some really off choices,” she added. “Appreciate your honest feedback and am sending so much love and virtual hugs.”

Tyra has been hosting the show since 2003. Its most recent season, 24th overall, aired in 2018.
