Roberto Carlos bans music use in Escobar series

Brazilian singer/songwriter Roberto Carlos has reportedly banned the use of his music in a forthcoming Netflix series about Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Elysium actor Wagner Moura will portray the notorious cocaine kingpin in Narcos, and director Jose Padilha had hoped to include up to six of Carlos’ tracks on the show’s soundtrack.
However, the musician has allegedly refused to authorise the use of hits like Detalles and Emociones, because he does not want his work to be associated with Escobar, according to Brazil’s O Globo newspaper.
The drug boss, who was a big fan of Carlos’ music, was shot dead by police in Colombia in 1993.
