A controversial SeaWorld expose and a film chronicling the downfall of cycling champion Lance Armstrong are among the 15 movies who will compete for next year’s (14) Best Documentary Oscar. Blackfish and The Armstrong Lie are up against The Crash Reel, Dirty Wars, God Loves Uganda, Life According to Sam and Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, among other nominees.
The list will be shortened when the official nominees are announced in January and the Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on 2 March (14).
