Don’t tell Cameron Diaz about stepped-up airport security.
The 27-year-old actress was at a security checkpoint at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday when a thief reportedly made off with her passport and $7,000 in cash.
Diaz was putting her belongings through an X-ray machine when the scam took place. The (allegedly) guilty party? The X-ray screener/security guard at the other end of the conveyor belt.
The unidentified woman was caught on surveillance tape removing the loot from Diaz‘s purse, officials said. She was arrested for investigation of grand theft.
The purloined items have since been returned to the actress. Diaz‘s flight destination was unknown.
In addition to her cameo appearance at LAX, Diaz currently can be seen playing a football franchise heiress in Oliver Stone‘s “Any Given Sunday.”
