Chance the Rapper to produce Special Olympics celebration gig

Chance The Rapper is helping to mark the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics by producing a celebratory concert in his native Chicago, Illinois.

The No Problem hitmaker will be putting together the event via his new firm, Social Function Productions (SFP).

“I’m happy to announce that my new production company SFP and I are producing the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics here in Chicago,” he wrote on Instagram, alongside a poster for the big gig, which will feature Motown legend Smokey Robinson, singer Jason Mraz, and rockers O.A.R., with further acts, including the main headliner, to be announced.

The show will take place on 21 July (18) on Northerly Island, bringing the Special Olympics full circle as the first ever games for those with intellectual disabilities took place in Chicago back in 1968.
