Cher battles laryngitis to perform in New York, announces tour

Pop superstar Cher battled through a bout of laryngitis to perform for thousands of fans in New York City on Monday (23Sep13). The Believe hitmaker raised fears she wouldn’t be able to sing when she took to Twitter.com on Sunday (22Sep13) to let fans know about her voice problems and many feared she would cancel her performance on a U.S. breakfast show.
She wrote, “MY VOICE…WELL..ITS (sic) LIKE JUMPING OUT Of A PLANE, IN A PARACHUTE YOUR MOM PACKED!!! YOU JUST PRAY IT OPENS”.
However, Cher arrived in style, accompanied by a New York City police motorcade, and belted out some of her hit songs, including Believe, This Is a Woman’s World and I Hope You Find It on U.S. breakfast show Today on Monday.
The singer also announced she would be going on tour for the first time since 2002 and admitted she doesn’t actually like the mechanics of being on the road.
She said, “The road is horrible, but the concerts are great.
“I understand why guys in bands tear up hotel rooms and throw TVs out the windows, because it’s a very lonely place. The only time you have fun is at the concerts.”
The Dressed To Kill tour will kick off next March (14) in Phoenix, Arizona.
