Darts ace Wilson dies

Wilson passed away at his home in Kirkcaldy, Scotland on Saturday night (24Mar12), two days after his birthday on Thursday (22Mar12). No cause of death had been revealed as WENN went to press, but he had recently been suffering with the lung disorder chronic pulmonary obstructive disease.

A Fife police spokeswoman tells the BBC, “The death is non-suspicious and due to a medical matter.”

The star won the World Championships in 1982 and 1989, and a statement from officials at the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) reads, “We are very saddened to hear of the death of former World Champion Jocky Wilson. Simply devastated.”
