Filmmaker Robert Schwentke has dropped out of directing The Divergent Series: Ascendant.
The filmmaker took charge of the second and third films in the book adaptation movie franchise, Insurgent and the upcoming The Divergent Series: Allegiant, but he has exited the final film.
The shoot is scheduled to begin this summer (16) in Atlanta, Georgia and the movie is slated for release in June, 2017. It is unclear if the schedule will change following Schwentke’s exit.
He replaced Neil Burger, who directed the first Divergent film, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet.
