J.Lo entertains the troops

Pop diva J.Lo ended her European tour by giving a rousing performance to the U.S. troops stationed in Germany Saturday night, and had them dancing atop tanks and aircraft.

Pop diva Lopez joined fellow recording artists Ja Rule and Kid Rock for a two-and-a-half hour show at the Ramstein base in southwestern Germany, sponsored by MTV.

“I just want to say we appreciate everything you guys are doing. We want you to come home soon,” Lopez told the troops.

MTV host Carson Daly added, “Having her here is like having a one-woman humanitarian drop,” while the nearly 1,500 troops shouted their approval.

Lopez is the second major diva to entertain U.S. troops abroad, following Mariah Carey‘s performance last week for the soldiers in Kosovo.

Other entertainment superstars are doing their part as well.

Julia Roberts, George Clooney and most of the rest of the Ocean’s Eleven cast, showed up at a military base in southern Turkey on Friday to sign autographs, pose for pictures and chat with the soldiers. Tom Cruise and director Cameron Crowe visited the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, Texas last week to thank the military personnel for their hard work.

“As an American, I feel proud,” Cruise told the troops. “And I’ve got a lot of admiration for what you do.”
