Britney Spears‘ ex-husband Kevin Federline has struck up an unlikely friendship with her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
The Toxic hitmaker famously dated the former ‘N Sync star for three years until their split in 2002. Two years later, the pop star wed dancer Federline, becoming parents to two sons, before splitting in 2007.
While both men have each moved on from their respective breakups, Spears’ ex-husband admits that since they share many mutual friends, he has stayed in touch with Timberlake over the years.
Federline tells Us Weekly, “We’re cool. Me and J (Justin) are. I actually just went to his last show in Vegas and hung out with him, got to see a lot of old friends… In the beginning when (Britney and I) first got together, it was awkward and I felt bad… I felt like maybe I should have called (Justin) and talked to him. But I didn’t have his number.”
Federline says they soon reconnected and still get together from time to time, adding, “You get older, you grow up, and you realize that was just a time in your life. S**t happens.”
Federline went on to marry former volleyball player Victoria Prince and they share two daughters together, while Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel welcomed a son earlier in April (15).
