Marvin Gaye III undergoes successful kidney transplant

The son of late soul icon Marvin Gaye is recovering at his Los Angeles home after undergoing a successful kidney transplant. Marvin Gaye III, who is also a singer, went public with his health battle in September (13), during an appearance on U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, when he desperately appealed for an organ donor after suffering kidney failure as a result of complications from diabetes.
A Cincinnati, Ohio man named Rick Greene stepped forward to offer his help, reports the Associated Press.
Gaye, who had been receiving dialysis treatment for the past three years, underwent the transplant operation at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center last week (ends30May14) and the 47 year old has since been discharged to recuperate at home.
