The Hunger Games screenwriter takes charge of Scorsese’s Sinatra biopic

Ray replaces Field of Dreams writer Phil Alden Robinson, who had previously been attached to the project when it was initially announced in 2009, reports movie website Deadline.com.

Scorsese has yet to cast an actor to portray the Rat Pack legend onscreen, and although his pal Leonardo DiCaprio has expressed a keen interest in taking on the lead role, the Goodfellas filmmaker recently admitted he’d prefer to keep his options open until the script is complete.

He said, “Leo’s always talked about doing it, but what if the story takes you in a completely different way? We could go for an unknown. Maybe the person who plays him isn’t important. Maybe it’s distracting to have a star in that role.”
