NAACP chief who criticized nets may from NBC show

NAACP President Kweisi Mfume has taped a pilot for a talk show that would be syndicated by NBC, the New York Times disclosed today, two days after Mfume sharply criticized the major television networks, including NBC, for lack of progress in instituting diversity programs. Mfume had indicated that the civil rights organization was considering singling out one of the networks for a nationwide boycott. The Times said that executives at Hearst-Argyle Television, which is partnered with NBC, had confirmed that Mfume taped the pilot in July and that the show might go on the air as early as next January.
