Soderbergh’s ‘Haywire’ Switching Distributors for Spring Release?

ALTSteven Soderbergh‘s spy thriller Haywire, which has tentatively been scheduled for a January 2011 release, may be moving.

According to The Playlist, the film is shifting distributors from Lionsgate to Overture for its North American release.

Ryan Kavanaugh produced the film via Relativity Media, which acquired assets of Overture earlier this year.

The Playlist notes that the move is interesting “since Kavanaugh had a put deal in place with Lionsgate and Soderbergh was eager and confident in the abilities of execs Tim Palen and Joe Drake to make sure the genre film was given the right marketing push.”

The distribution change now sees the film eyeing a late March or early April 2011 release, says PL.

PL says designer Neil Kellerhouse, who created posters for The Girlfriend ExperienceThe Social Network and a number of DVD covers for The Criterion Collection, has created a poster for Haywire that which should be coming soon.

Soderbergh is also planning to put six minutes of the film on YouTube, says PL.

Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton, Michael Angarano, Matthieu Kassovitz, Channing Tatum and Antonio Banderas star.
