What To Expect from This Year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards

Usher will host the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards Thursday night live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The awards show will celebrate the biggest names in music and honor industry legend Elton John for his iconic career. The awards will air at 8 pm EST on FOX.

Fans can see their favorite artists strut the red carpet and watch exclusive interviews on the iHeartRadio Music Awards pre-show hosted by Elvis Duran, Amy Brown, Maxwell, and Emily Curl. The pre-show will be livestreamed on iHeartRadio’s YouTube page prior to the awards ceremony.

iHeartRadio said that viewers can expect to see appearances from Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch, twenty one pilots, and Megan Thee Stallion.

iHeartRadio Music Awards: Nominees

The iHeartRadio Music Awards celebrate the year’s most-listened-to artists in a variety of different categories.

Nominations for Song of the Year include “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd, “Circles” by Post Malone, “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa, “ROCKSTAR” by DaBaby featuring Roddy Ricch, and “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles.

Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, and Taylor Swift are all nominated for Female Artist of the Year.

Nominees for Male Artist of the Year include Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Roddy Ricch, and The Weeknd.

BTS, Dan + Shay, Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5, and twenty one pilots have earned themselves nominations for Best Duo/ Group of the Year.

Some winners have already been announced on iHeartRadio’s Instagram. Maren Morris won Country Song of the Year for her hit “The Bones” and Olivia Rodrigo received the fan-voted award for Social Star.

iHeartRadio Music Awards: Star-Studded Performances

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande will open the show with their “Save Your Tears (Remix).” This marks the first time the pair have performed the song together. Based on their past performances, we can expect an unforgettable opening number from the two superstars.

Silk Sonic— the R&B collaboration project of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak— will hit the stage Thursday night The pair dazzled at the Grammys back in March with their performance of “Leave the Door Open” and we can’t wait to see what they bring to iHeartRadio Music Awards!

Doja Cat will perform at the awards show, most likely singing her latest hit “Kiss Me More.” Doja Cat has had a huge emergence in music over the past year, earning her a nomination for Best New Pop Artist. She has been absolutely killing it in her recent awards show performances and we expect tonight to be no different!

Best Duo/ Group nominees Dan + Shay will also be performing at the awards ceremony. The pop-country duo is best known for their hits “Speechless” and “10,000 Hours” on which they collaborated with Justin Bieber.

iHeartRadio Music Awards: Elton John to receive Icon Award

Chris Martin and Lil Nas X will present Elton John with the iHeartRadio Icon Award at Thursday night’s ceremony. The music legend will be honored with a tribute performance by Demi Lovato, Brandi Carlile, and H.E.R.

According to iHeartRadio, Elton John is receiving this award “for his global impact on pop culture, longevity and continued relevance as a touring and radio force with a loyal fan base worldwide.” in 2020, Elton John received the iHeartRadio Music Award for Tour of the Year for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.

Elton John is only the second recipient of the Icon Award after Jon Bon Jovi received the accolade in 2018.
