The popular star, born Michael Lally, passed away last Tuesday (31Aug10) in Dublin after suffering from a brief illness.
Lally co-founded Galway’s Druid Theater troupe with actress Marie Mullen and Garry Hynes in 1975 and he went on to find fame on hit Irish TV soap Glenroe, on which he portrayed farmer Miley Bryne.
He also appeared in films such as 1994 fantasy The Secret of Roan Inish and voiced the character of Aiden in the Oscar-nominated animated movie The Secret of Kells last year (09).

Lally is survived by his wife Peige and three children.
