‘Pretty Little Liars’ Just Came Out With a Fashion Line and it’s Surprisingly Fab

Could Pretty Little Liars save Aeropostale? Certainly the struggling retailer probably hopes so. Once a must-shop destination for teens and tweens, Aeropostale has suffered from slumping sales recently. By contrast, ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars just keeps getting hotter.

The show is dominating social media in a big way. The recent Liars summer finale broke all records for scripted series with nearly 2 million tweets sent during the show’s airing.

With an obsessive and motivated fanbase, it seemed like a no-brainer to release a fashion line. Yet most celebrity fashion lines can be hit or miss. For every Mad Men line for Banana Republic there’s a Lindsay Lohan leggings disaster.

Indeed, Aeropostale at first glance doesn’t seem like exactly the perfect fit for the Liars aesthetic. The girls on Pretty Little Liars have very individualized styles which can often be downright edgy. (Here’s looking at you, Aria!) Yet Aeropostale has mostly stuck to its comfort zone of preppy staples and graphic tees.

So imagine how surprising it was to see that not only is the Pretty Little Liars line true to the show, it’s also being offered at affordable price points for the show’s young fans.

“The good thing about Aeropostale is you’re going to get pieces that are affordable and age appropriate,” designer Mandi Line told Entertainment Weekly. “I want the kids and the parents to be able to afford it.”

Not only is the line affordable (the highest price point seems to be around $60) but it’s also true to the unique styles of the girls. On the show, Emily, Hanna, Spencer, and Aria all have their own individual styles. Aria is more punk rock, Emily is sporty, Hanna is feminine, and Spencer is preppy. Each of the looks Line designed with Aeropostale is instantly recognizable for which Liar it represents. Even if the outfits weren’t labeled, most Liars fans would still know which girl each look represented.

This individuality, in both personality and fashion sense, is one of the major appeals of the show. And it absolutely translates in this new Pretty Little Liars line. Whether this can translate to big business for Aeropostale remains to be seen, but this affordable and covet-worthy collection is certainly worth a look.

What do you think? Do you love the Pretty Little Liars Aeropostale line or is it not your style? Share in the comments!
