To Tommy, From Zooey

Zooey Deschanel has made a career out of spinning her sunny on-screen persona and her whimsical fashion sense into a walking billboard for her personal brand. Peddling giggles alongside peter pan collars, it’s no wonder main street America wants a piece of her quirky style.

The New Girl star has partnered with the classic American designer Tommy Hilfiger to design a capsule collection for Macy’s called, “To Tommy, From Zooey.” The 16-piece clothing collection will feature plenty of spring essentials including flouncy skirts and preppy, print dresses that combine Deschanel’s signature 60’s mod style and Hilfiger’s nautical palette. A concept the actress summed up as “modical.”

Ranging between $98 and $199, the line will be sold in over 200 Macy’s stores and Tommy Hilfiger locations internationally starting April 14th, with a selection of handbags and jewelry that will follow later in the month. While this marks her first fashion collaboration, Miss Deschanel has marketed her doe-eyed look before, modeling for Rimmel cosmetics.

At first glance, the collection looks surprisingly very-wearable, and many of the looks echo the same style sensibility as her character Jess Day on New Girl. Apparently the designs came about from a particularly inspiring meeting after the two met through mutual friends and bonded over their love of old Hollywood and retro music. The result is a mix of sexy tennis pro meets sensible 70s secretary – in a good way!

The first few images of Deschanel in the campaign released already have us daydreaming about picnics in Nantucket and riding a Vespa alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Will you be heading to Macy’s this spring?
