Rosie O’Donnell made headlines recently when the television personality suffered a heart attack earlier this month. Following the incident, which O’Donnell herself revealed to the public via a poetic passage on her blog, a decidedly happier bit of news has broken: O’Donnell has gotten married to her fianceé, Michelle Rounds.
O’Donnell, 50, has been involved with Rounds, 40, since 2011. The two announced their engagement in December. People reports that the pair got married in a private ceremony in New York in early June, prior to an operation Rounds underwent following a diagnosis with desmoid tumors. Their original plan was to get married in August, but they chose to engage in a private ceremony prior to the surgery in light of Rounds’ condition. O’Donnell once again takes to her blog to reveal the news to her public, publishing another poem on Monday, which includes the following passage:we were to wed 10 days ago
but her illness forced us to postpone the wedding
luckily –
as i was in ICU that day
when it rains …
things grow
like love and flowers
humans too
so on we go
we married in private
before her surgery
just the 2 of us
when we r both well enough
will have the wedding of r dreams
surrounded by those we cherish
thankful for the love and support
so many have given us
during these trying timesFollowing the health struggles that both O’Donnell and Rounds have endured this summer, the news of the couple’s marriage makes for an especially encouraging story.
O’Donnell has been married once before: to Kelli Carpenter, from 2004 to 2007. Hollywood.com has reached out to O’Donnell’s rep for comment.
